How To Care For A Single Duvet
A single duvet is a delicate item that should be well taken care of once you’ve purchased it. Even if you were lucky enough to find a good quality duvet at a bargain price, you should still take great strides in caring for it. A bargain price is a blessing and may never have such luck again in getting something as good as a single duvet at a bargain price.
Caring for a single duvet is dependent on a couple of things. First, the type of material it’s made of makes a difference. That mean the outer cover and the filling is what matters. A single duvet that is filled with silk fiber and a silk outer shell should be dry cleaned without exception. A machine washed single duvet filled with silk can ruin it forever. In all likelihood, you bought that single duvet made of silk at a premium price. It would be a shame to ruin it without dry cleaning.
A single duvet with a cotton shell and cotton fiber fill should also be dry cleaned. There are some manufacturers that will say it’s OK to machine wash them, however, you will have better results by having it dry cleaned since washing it by machine may cause the item to look worn and lumpy. About the only single duvet that may be machine washed is a duvet filled with synthetic fiber and synthetic fabric. Synthetic duvets usually bounce back their regular shape. They are easier to clean for that reason. You can wash them in a washer; however, you should not put them in a dryer because there’s a high risk that it can catch fire from intense heat. After washing the item, lay it out on a flat surface to dry.
Many consumers balk at the high cost of dry cleaning an item such as a single duvet. The good thing about dry cleaning one is that you may not have to do this more than once a year. With proper care, single duvets should remain clean throughout the year, especially if it’s only being used during the colder months. What is helpful in protecting the single duvet is a single duvet cover. The cover not only keeps the duvet clean but will prolong its use by protecting it against wear and tear. With the use of a duvet cover, you may only need to wash the fabric in a machine and not worry about dry cleaning. Any silk item, however, should always be dry cleaned.
